Wisconsin Walk for Hope was started in loving memory of children who have passed away and their families that were left behind. Our primary purpose is to honor the memory of those children and to promote healing through the support of family and friends. We will walk together with others who share a common bond of grief that is familiar to those of us who have lost a child. Our hope is to heal our broken heart, to remember our children, and to one day see them again!
In keeping with our primary purpose, Wisconsin Walk for Hope would like to extend an open invitation for all families and friends to experience the gift of healing through unity this year. The event is free for anyone who has lost a child of any age – whether their loss was recent or long ago. Each person who attends will have the opportunity to participate in a 1.5 mile walk along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan, to send a message to their child (via our balloon launch), to have a button made with their child’s picture on it, decorate a memorial T-shirt, and share a meal with their family and friends.
Due to the delicate nature of this event, Wisconsin Walk for Hope is not a fund-raiser. While many “Walks” today focus on raising money for a particular cause or purpose – we do not! Our two main objectives are: (1) To promote healing in the shattered hearts of those who have lost a child. (2) To have a special place to remember children who have died.
Several local businesses have worked together, raised money, and volunteered to make this event a reality and free to families in our community. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude and appreciation to those businesses and people who have poured their hearts into making this walk a special memorial for our children.
Our deepest desire is to cultivate a place to heal, to mourn, to celebrate, and most important – A place to remember. If you have lost a child, young or old, we hope you will be a part of the 5th annual Wisconsin Walk for Hope!
